Cakes

So I realize that I just got married and that should obviously mean wedding post, but I don't have the pictures with me. It'll have to wait....

In the meantime, one of my professors introduced us today to Cake Wrecks....and that is what I have been entertaining myself with at work the last two hours. This site is awesome. (There are a few bad things on it though.....scroll over them really fast!) It's basically a website of cakes people have seen that make you go "Whaa...?" Most of what I've found is freaking hilarious.

Check out these gems:

(I told Dan I'm making him this one for his next birthday
since he thinks he's a grizzly bear)

And check out this nasty:

An unfortunate gingerbread man...

Oscar the Grouch meets Santa?

Drag queen toad

And then they also have cakes where the cake decorators took what customers said or wrote extremely literally or just plain spelled words wrong:

And finally, they actually have some AMAZING cakes. I totally want this hookah-smoking caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland cake.

The Grinch

Love this one....I've decided I need a red cake stand.

And my FAVORITE....a cake from Up! How cool is that???

Anyways...sorry about the pig cake that is totally gross.

I'm married now!! Marriage is definitely an adjustment and I hate unpacking/organizing, but so far so good! It's just like hanging out with my best friend 24/7 (minus school and work).

Now I'm bored of blogging, see you all later with hopefully a marriage post.

It's Official

Dan and I signed a contract for the apartment we will be living in after we're married! We're pretty excited about it. Most married housing rent is anywhere from $600-750 per month but ours is only $500. I was worried with such low rent it would be a dump...but it's totally not. The only downsides:

-There is carpet in the kitchen (yuck)
-The bathroom is pink (as in the tub, toilet, sink)
-The bathroom tile is the little square-inch tile and one of the previous tenants replaced all the tile by the threshold to make it look like an entry mat and it says "John" (although I find that kind of funny)
-You can't have kids (though we're not planning on that super soon so it's alright)

The plusses:

-You get reimbursed for any upgrades you make. Dan still has hook-ups to free carpet from his old job so we could potentially make $200.
-It's super close to campus
-We already have friends in the ward (people I knew freshman year) and we've heard the ward is awesome and chill
-There's a lot of storage space
-The previous tenants are offering to sell us their washer and dryer for only $150 total
-The walls are painted nicely

I also finally sold my current contract. I suppose that's not official yet because nothing has been signed, but I talked to someone who said they would absolutely not back out and we're going to get it finalized on Saturday. Even though I'm not too worried I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't fall through. But I've had several other offers so even if it does I should still have back-ups.

In other news, Dan got an internship at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple doing facility management stuff. His first day was last Thursday. Next Saturday he'll be running it all by himself...after only 3-4 days of training. That means if there's anything wrong he's in charge of fixing it, and along with that he's the first respondent for security and health emergencies. Crazy stuff.

Finally........we're getting married two weeks from tomorrow!!!!! And finals suck!

28 Days And Counting

Dan and I are getting married in 28 days!! I can't wait! Invitations are in the mail (well...at least for everyone who posted addresses on facebook or who are family/friends of my family...still working on Dan's family/friends) and all plans are coming together. I still have quite a bit to do though...

I don't know if I can handle one more semester of school. I am doing bare minimum right now, probably even less than that haha. But I must.

Dan has an interview for an internship with the Oquirrh Mountain Temple tomorrow! He eventually wants to end up working for the church if possible and manage church buildings and/or temples, so we're hoping he'll get this internship. It would be an awesome resume builder AND Dan heard that most of the kids who get an internship through the Church get hired by the Church. The only downside....he has to work 20 hours per week if he gets it, and 10 of the hours MUST be worked on Saturdays. Hello boring weekends. That's okay though. :]

I've decided that you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes. Today I was eating lunch on campus and was observing this guy, and I couldn't decide if he was the quiet but still confident type or if he was very introverted, shy, and maybe even sad. I found myself trying to look at his shoes to make the final decision. Unfortunately I couldn't see them so it's still a mystery. But do you guys agree with me? Or am I crazy?? You can tell who's a nerd, who's a prep, who's a punk, who's a tool, who's high maintenance, who's conservative (not in the political sense) and so much more...Often times I think I can even tell the type of music people listen to by looking at their shoes.

Have You Noticed I've Been Posting More Frequently?

That's always a telltale sign I am becoming progressively more unmotivated.

By the end of the day today, I will have had 9 classes so far this week. I will have attended 4 of them. Don't tell my parents.

I had a 100-point assignment due last week. When I found out that it was taking most people 5-6 hours, I just didn't do it. My teacher will drop the lowest score so I figured if it's going to be dropped anyways, I'm not even going to try.

I have another 100-point assignment that was originally due at midnight tonight. My teacher emailed us and pushed it back til tomorrow night. Guess what I'm not doing tonight? Guess who will be hating herself tomorrow night?

I am totally not trying to complain at all, just state that I am in stuck in a huge rut and have no clue how to get out of it. Suggestions? I feel like this:

(This is a Fathead Sculpin Fish. For real.)

I just want this semester to be over so I can get MARRIED. And I just want next semester to be over so I can GRADUATE. Aaah. Graduate. Today I realized what that actually meant. I've always known that graduation means no more school, but it's real--no more school for ME. I will not attend school. MY education will be complete. (For now anyways.) I will get a job, a job that once it's over it's over, and I won't have homework. Do you know how blissful that sounds!? I'm tellin ya....5 years of college can really burn one out. It is crazy to think that when I graduate, I will have been in school for 18 consecutive years. I might not know what to do with myself. Oh the joyous day!!!

Okay I am rambling now...

11/11/11 11:11

Did you make your wish at 11:11 this morning!? If not don't worry....there's still another 11:11 tonight. Don't miss it, it might be the luckiest wish of your life...unless you live until the year 2111. (Kinda wish I was around for the year 1111!)

To boost your luck, here are all the lucky things I could think of for you:

Happy 11/11/11!

In celebration, Dan and I are going to buy Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 on DVD. I am so excited!!!!! Best date night eva!

Ode to J.K. Rowling

For all you Potter nerds out there.

I am re-reading the Harry Potter series and am reading the very last battle scene in the seventh book. Re-reading the series (several times) has really made me appreciate J.K. Rowling's wit and style of writing. There have been so many instances throughout the books that I think, "Wow, she really thought that out," or, "That ties in perfectly!" But I also really appreciate her humor.

Right now, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are trying to get through the secret passage under the Whomping Willow to get to Voldemort in the Shrieking Shack, and Ron is fretting about getting the tree to hold still, saying "If we just had Crookshanks again!" And Hermione yells, "Are you a wizard, or what!?"

If you recall in the first book, Harry and Ron become entangled in Devil's Snare, which will release its victims when set on fire. Hermione stands around helplessly saying something about needing wood to start a fire, and Ron shouts, "Are you a witch or not!?"

J.K. seriously just ties everything in a perfect circle, makes perfect closes. That one really made me laugh. I am such a dork.
